VIDEO: "Martian Child" featuring "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit
"'Isn't he wild?' 'He's great, like a little Andy Warhol.'"
On my way to developing my love for all things John Cusack, and on his way to cashing a few paychecks, he starred in Martian Child. Playing a widower intent on going through with his dead wife's intention of adopting a child (who so happens to think he's from Mars), it's one of those family-feel-good movies, of which my enjoyment of proves that I still haven't grown up.
Not taking the threat of a potential tear-jerker seriously is a mistake I have made before (if you've never seen Marley & Me, avoid at all costs unless you want to feel like playing in oncoming traffic after the movie is done), and upon my first viewing of Martian Child, it was a trap I found myself in once more. Having recommended the film to former marines among others who were also lulled into a state of :'( :'( :'( makes me feel a little less of a puss, but I would definitely rank it on the same levels amongst other heart-wrenching popular family fare like Toy Story 3 with how potentially upsetting some events are.
So for mood music, it's not like I could pick a Mambo No. 5 or a Gettin' Jiggy wit It. Not quite. I went with the track "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit, for the simple fact that it has that same mix of upbeat & sadness, so much so to the point where any time I hear it come on the radio, the DJs *always* point that conundrum out.
So without further ado, Dizzle presents Martian Child featuring "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit. Check it out.
