VIDEO: "Charlie Bartlett" featuring "Animal" by Miike Snow

Back in 2008, just before the awesome that is Robert Downey Jr. made a Rocky Balboa comeback in Hollywood with Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, and with Star Trek & Terminator Salvation on the horizon for Anton Yelchin, there was a little flick that got these two together that was quietly unleashed on the world by the name of Charlie Bartlett. Thought it suffered in the post-American Pie era of similar R-rated teenage-aimed comedies, I got the chance to check it out during my employment at Hollywood Video and discovered a quality little gem.
Kyle Reese/Chekov plays Charlie Bartlett, an upper class teenager who just strives to fit in, bringing the ire of school administrations where ever he goes. His mother (Hope Davis), without a clue in the world, introduces him to oblivious counselors who prescribe any medication he can rattle up symptoms for, and he takes on the noble quest of trying to help out the student body in any way possible. Meanwhile, he draws the eye of Susan Gardner (Kat Dennings), the Daugher of Principal Nathan Gardner (Tony Stark), and shit starts to go down.
It's definitely recommended viewing, and is really a wonder why it didn't gain more popularity, though it aiming it at an audience that would most have to sneak in to see it probably did it no favors. I sat down to watch it again before I went to work on the video, and it's still a pretty boss movie. The rapper Drake pops up with a few of his showmates from Degrassi in minor roles, so it's weird that it's didn't get a little more attention than it did on release. Though it did wait a solid 9 months after it's Tribeca Film Fest debut to see release, so maybe everyone was just waiting to see Downey in Iron Man to get there fix of him on the big screen.
Anyways, without further ado, Dizzle presents to you Charlie Bartlett featuring "Animal" by Miike Snow. Do it.
