VIDEO: "(500) Days of Summer" featuring "Ready to Start" by Arcade Fire
"Either she's an evil, emotionless, miserable human being, or... she's a robot. " -Tom Hansen
I've had it in mind for the last couple of weeks to get around to doing a video for (500) Days of Summer, going as far as to download it at the beginning of the month but sitting on it for a little while till I felt like trying to sort out and line-up the timeline the here-and-there storytelling the movie puts into use.
Why (500) Days of Summer you ask?
Why not? is what I ask in return. But of course, there's some people out there who need a poke in the ass to be convinced, so let's bulletpoint it.
With Inception continuing to make waves around the world, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is starting to establish himself as the still living equivalent of Heath Ledger and breaking out of the shell of being "that kid alien from 3rd Rock From The Sun". (500) Days of Summer was a break-out role for him to show some of the indie acting chops he's picked up along the way.
Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass) gets to show off a little of what got her picked for such a vulgar follow-up role as the sister Rachel, getting to be the sense talker to her older brother (Gordon-Levitt).
The out-of-order storytelling enacted in the film has a feel of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, just without the crazy plot point for using the method. At heart, it has the same mold that made High Fidelity such an awesome film, taking a look at relationships and break-ups from the male perspective.
Awesome supporting cast: comedic actor Geoffrey Arend (Devil, Super Troopers, The Ringer), Matthew Gray Gubler (the Chipmunks movies, Criminal Minds), Clark Gregg (In Good Company, most famously known as Agent Coulson in the Iron Man flicks and other upcoming Marvel blockbusters), not to mention Zooey Deschanel as the tit(heh-heh)ular Summer.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Tom Hansen. WE HAVE THE SAME FIRST NAME! OMFG!!!11111!
I think that's a convincing enough arguement. So for an indie epic such as this one, the track would of course come from one of the most successful bands to come from the indie scene, with Arcade Fire's "Ready to Start" off their Billboard #1 album.
So without further ado, Dizzle presents (500) Days of Summer featuring "Ready to Start" by Arcade Fire. "Quit being a pussy." -Rachel
